The TPRA's 4th quarterly meeting was held at Montgomery Bell on December 9th, 2020.

Deputy Commissioner Jim Bryson was in attendance and spoke about 2021 leadership priorities and other topics, including:

  • An increased focus on improving communication within TDEC and its partners

  • A continued focus on creating and recognizing “Wow” moments

  • Providing training on how to generate donations effectively

  • Expressing thanks to park rangers and other staff who continue to serve Tennessee State Parks

Recipients of educational raises were in attendance and thanked the Deputy Commissioner for his role in re-instituting 5% pay increases for rangers who pursue and receive advanced degrees. Educational benefits were an important priority for TPRA advocacy in 2020.

Other topics of discussion included a scholarship committee update, 2021 challenge coins, instituting a TPRA historian position, and the announcement of 2021 race dates. (see our Annual Events page for details).

Our next meeting will take place in February 2021. Look for an email from our chair for date & location details.
